Telangana has announced its Clean and Green Energy Policy 2024, aiming to position the state as a leader in renewable energy while addressing its rapidly growing energy demands. The announcement was made on Wednesday , outlining the government’s vision for sustainable energy development.
Telangana, one of the fastest-growing states in the country, is set to witness a significant rise in energy demand. The state’s peak power demand is projected to increase from 15,623 MW in 2023-24 to 20,968 MW by 2027-28, and further to 31,809 MW by 2034-35. Similarly, energy requirements are expected to grow from 85,644 MUs in 2023-24 to 1,15,347 MUs in 2027-28, and to 1,50,040 MUs by 2034-35.
To meet this rising demand sustainably, the Telangana government has set an ambitious target of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. The Clean and Green Energy Policy 2024 is designed to align with the country’s goals for green energy while ensuring the state’s developmental needs are met in an eco-friendly manner.
As part of this initiative, the government will conduct a stakeholder’s convention on January 3, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). The convention will bring together key stakeholders from across the country to discuss strategies and collaborations for implementing the policy effectively.
Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana expressed confidence that the new energy policy would pave the way for sustainable growth, ensuring the state remains at the forefront of green energy innovations.
