Telugu film industry to meet CM Chandrababu Naidu over key issues

Must read

The Telugu film fraternity is scheduled to meet Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday, June 15. The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) received an invitation from the AP government, and several prominent producers, directors, and actors are confirming their participation.

A few days ago, AP Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan criticized Telugu filmmakers for not engaging with the state government, despite claiming to support the development of Telugu cinema in Andhra Pradesh. Tensions further rose when Pawan Kalyan’s film Hari Hara Veera Mallu, initially slated for a June 12 release, was postponed.

Another ongoing issue is the theatre bandh, which has led to cinema halls shutting down in both Telugu-speaking states due to financial troubles. Theatre owners are demanding a percentage-based revenue sharing model for film releases, instead of the current rental-based system. Referring to this situation, Pawan Kalyan accused certain filmmakers of monopolizing the industry, although he didn’t name anyone. However, filmmakers like Allu Aravind and Dil Raju have come forward in support of his stance on Telugu cinema.

Now, the TFCC is planning to address these issues during their meeting with CM Chandrababu Naidu this Sunday.
