Telugu students topped the IIT entrance exam JEE Advanced winning six of the top ranks and the all-India top rank which was bagged by Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy hailing from Nagarkurnool district.
The results were declared by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati. Hyderabad boy Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy scored 341 out of 360 and bagged the All India First Rank (AIR 1). He was followed by the female topper of the country, a Telugu girl named Nayakanti Naga Bhavya Sree, who wrote the exam in Hyderabad zone. Her all-India rank is 56 and marks 298. Speaking to ‘The Pioneer,’ Chidvilas said, “I have not thought about a goal as such but want to pursue research. I dedicated my time in my institute to studies and revised subjects when needed. My message to students who feel stressed is that they must go by a schedule. I used to play table tennis to relax. I did not feel the examination was tough. My parents are both government teachers and they travel up and down daily. Students must ask questions if they have doubts and get them cleared immediately.”
The other Telugu students who figured in the top 10 ranks are Ramesh Surya Teja (2nd). His parents are also government teachers and the boy dedicated his prize money to his parents as he had been dreaming to score well and make his parents proud.
The other Telugu winners are Addagadda Venkata Shivaram (5th), Bikkina Abhinav Chowdary (7th), Nagireddy Balaji Reddy (9th) and Yekkanti Phani Venkata Maninder Reddy (10th). All of them belong to either Telangana or Andhra Pradesh.
A total number of 1,80,372 candidates appeared in papers 1 and 2 of JEE (Advanced) 2023 and 43,773 candidates qualified. Of the qualified candidates, 7,509 are females.
Among zones, the IIT Hyderabad zone topped as students of this zone performed exceptionally well in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2023 by winning six of the top 10 ranks. This includes all-India toppers Vavilala Chidvilas Reddy and Nayakanti Naga Bhavya Sree, the female topper in the country with rank 56.
In the IIT JEE results declared by IIT Guwahati on Sunday, 40 rankers among the top 100, 75 in the top 200, 121 in the top 300, 149 in the top 400 and 174 of the top 500 ranks were from IIT–Hyderabad zone. In all, 10,432 candidates from IIT–Hyderabad zone qualified, the highest among all IIT zones in the country.
