Summer to be hotter than last year

Telangana is reeling under the summer heat, especially the North and the East, with some areas recording 40°C.
The TSDPS said Jagtial recorded 40°C. Kumaram Bheem, Nirmal and Adilabad, Mahbubabad, Nizambad and Sircilla recorded 39°C. The IMD said that in February the temperatures are 1 to 2 degree Celsius above normal. The TSDPS said that dry weather is expected from February 25 to March 3.
With the expected change in winds from the north and north-easterly direction to easterly and south-easterly direction from February 26 onwards, minimum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 2°C to 3°C at many places in the North and Central districts of the State.
Maximum temperatures are expected to rise gradually by 3°C to 4°C in most districts with the change of season from winter to summer.
Minimum temperatures are expected to range from 17°C to 19°C in northern districts and from 19°C to 22°C in southern and central districts while maximum temperatures are likely to range from 34°C to 38°C.
“Compared to 2022, temperatures will be higher this year. Heat intensity will increase from March 1. It will be normal to above normal. All districts will witness intense heat from March 15. After April, there is likely to be a heat wave and severe heatwave conditions,” IMD’s Naga Ratna said.
Maximum temperatures gradually increased by 3°C to 4°C in most of the districts from February 20 onwards. Maximum temperatures are likely to be 5°C to 6°C above normal in northwest India due to the absence of Western Disturbances (WD) which affected state temperatures from February 18 to 24.
The IMD said that the weather will be dry. Mainly low-level Easterlies and South-Easterlies prevail over the state.
“Dry weather is expected from February 25 to March 3. Minimum temperatures are expected to range from 17°C to 19°C in northern districts and from 19°C to 22°C in southern and central districts. Maximum temperatures will range from 34°C to 38°C,” the TSPDS said.
