Tension as YSRCP, TDP activists clash

Tension prevailed here on Tuesday during the Nara Lokesh Yuva Galam padayatra as the YSRCP and TDP activists clashed at Indiramma colony.

The YSRCP activists tried to obstruct the TDP activists and later they hurled stones, water bottles, and dung at TDP ex-MLA Vetupuri Shivarama Raju and other TDP leaders and activists. Irate over this, the TDP activists retaliated leading to a tense situation.

As many as five YSRCP activists and some police personnel suffered injuries. However, the police dispersed the clashing activists by resorting to a cane charge.

After addressing a public meeting, Nara Lokesh’s padayatra reached the Indiramma colony where the clash between the TDP and YSRCP took place. The YSRCP leaders alleged that the TDP activists chased the YSRCP activists, barged into the houses, and thrashed them. They alleged that former MLA Chintamaneni Prabhakar provoked the TDP activists. However, the Lokesh’s padayatra went ahead after the police dispersed them.
