Tension prevailed in Tadipatri town on Tuesday as some Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists allegedly pelted stones at the house of YSRCP leader and former MLA Kethireddy Pedda Reddy.
Police said that Kethireddy Pedda Reddy returned to his house on Tuesday. Some TDP activists, opposing his presence in Tadipatri, went to his house and hurled stones, resulting in injuries to YSRCP activist Rafi. Upon learning of the TDP activists’ attack, a large number of Pedda Reddy’s followers rushed to the scene and confronted the TDP activists. They engaged in stone-pelting, escalating the tension.
As a precautionary measure, the police evacuated Kethireddy Pedda Reddy from Tadipatri. Pedda Reddy had returned to the town after a gap of two months.
YSRCP leaders informed the media that the TDP activists also attacked the house of YSRCP leader Kandigopula Murali Prasad Reddy in the town, damaging vehicles and ransacking furniture.
According to sources, Murali Prasad Reddy emerged from his house with a double-barrel gun, but the police managed to calm him down. Additional police personnel have been deployed to Tadipatri to maintain law and order.
Meanwhile, TDP leader and former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy alleged that YSRCP leader Murali Prasad Reddy tried to intimidate the TDP workers with a gun. He stoked the TDP workers by showing a gun which forced the TDP workers to respond violently. The TDP leader appealed to the TDP activists to maintain restraint.
