TG government hosts industrial roundtable on Life Sciences skilling

The Department of Employment and Training (DET), in collaboration with the Centre for Good Governance (CGG), organised an Industrial Roundtable Conference on the Life Sciences sector in Hyderabad as part of a series of six roundtables aimed at addressing skill development needs across various industries.
Themed ‘Skilling Telangana for a Brighter Future,’ the conference focused on bridging the gap between government-run skill training programs and industry requirements, particularly in the pharmaceutical, medical, and biotechnology sectors.
The event began with welcome remarks from Prof Devi Prasad Juvvadi, Director, CGG, followed by an address from Dr. Sangramsingh Patil, Additional Director General, CGG, who outlined the objectives of the discussion. Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Department of Labour, Employment, Training, and Factories, Sanjay Kumar, , delivered the keynote address, emphasising the Telangana government’s initiatives to revamp Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and integrate private sector stakeholders into their management.
Prominent industry leaders, including B Bhaskar Rao, Chairman and Managing Director of KIMS Group, and Rajendar Rao Juvvadi, Founder & CMD of Aurore Lifesciences Pvt. Ltd., participated as Guests of Honour. Officials from the DET presented a detailed overview of Telangana’s skill development ecosystem, including TOMCOM and the Kshamatha scheme under the Government of India.
As part of the deliberations, three key panel discussions were held: Industry Expectations and Skill Gaps, Industry-Government Collaboration and Roadmap for Sustainability and Skill Development
The conference saw participation from senior representatives of KIMS Group, Dr. Reddy’s Labs, Continental Hospitals, Sai Life Sciences, and other leading organizations from the Life Sciences Sector Skill Council and the Biotechnology Incubation Centre at Genome Valley. Discussions focused on addressing skill gaps, training and re-skilling needs, workforce mobility, and entrepreneurship in the life sciences industry.
The Industrial Roundtables will continue with similar engagements across BFSI, Construction, Retail, Manufacturing, and IT & ITES sectors from March 7 to March 21, 2025. These discussions will eventually lead to the formation of Sectoral Committees comprising representatives from industry, government departments, and other key stakeholders to drive sustainable skill development initiatives.
