‘TG paddy varieties used worldwide’

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao said that it is a matter of pride for TG that its paddy varieties are used not only in the state but also internationally.
He inspected the arrangements for Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University’s Diamond Jubilee Celebrations on Thursday along with Agriculture Secretary, APC M. Raghunandan Rao IAS and Commissioner B. Gopi, IAS.
The team inspected the arrangements at the PJTSAU Sports Complex and auditorium in Rajendranagar where Prof. Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations are being held on Friday and Saturday.
Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao advised officials that arrangements should be made in full swing as the Governor, Jishnudev Verma, who is also the University’s Chancellor and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would be attending.
Thummala recalled the university’s history. The late Vice President, Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, laid the foundation stone of the agricultural college in Rajendranagar on January 6, 1955, and gave birth to today’s agricultural university, he said.
Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri formally inaugurated the Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University on March 20, 1965, and dedicated it to the farmers of the United States. The late Prime Minister, Mrs Indira Gandhi, inaugurated the present university administration building complex on June 23, 1966.
The Minister said that the late former Chief Minister Dr YS Raja Shekar Reddy started the Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University on July 15, 2005, to carry out research in fields like veterinary medicine and horticulture.
