Chief Minister Revanth Reddy placed a wide-ranging development agenda before Prime Minister Modi, seeking Cabinet clearances and expedited approvals for infrastructure and strategic projects, including the Hyderabad Metro Rail Phase-II, Regional Ring Road, defence manufacturing hubs, and semiconductor units.

In his meeting with the Prime Minister, Revanth urged swift action on the Hyderabad Metro Phase-II project, which proposes five corridors covering 76.4 km at a cost of Rs 24,269 crore.

The Centre’s share, as per norms, is pegged at 18 per cent (Rs. 4,230 crore), while Telangana has committed to bearing 30 per cent (Rs. 7,313 crore), with the remaining 48 per cent (Rs 11,693 crore) being raised through debt.

“This project has suffered due to inaction in the last 10 years. The new government has already responded to all clarifications sought by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs,” Revanth stated, citing approvals granted to Chennai and Bengaluru Metro projects recently.

The Chief Minister also raised the issue of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) encircling Hyderabad, stressing the need for the simultaneous implementation of both the northern and southern sections to ensure cost efficiency and usability.

He pointed out that while tenders for the northern stretch are already in motion, the southern corridor must be taken up in parallel. Telangana is ready to share 50 per cent of the land acquisition cost for both segments.

“The Outer Ring Road is already nearing saturation with daily traffic exceeding one lakh passenger car units. Delays will inflate land and construction costs,” he said.

Revanth also sought support for a 370-km railway line running parallel to the RRR and a greenfield highway connecting Bandar Port to a proposed dry port near Hyderabad to facilitate pharma and manufacturing exports. A railway line is also proposed along this corridor to further bolster freight movement and industrial connectivity.

Highlighting Telangana’s potential in the semiconductor sector, the Chief Minister requested the Prime Minister’s intervention to approve a project under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). “Hyderabad is home to global leaders like AMD, Qualcomm, Foxconn and Kaynes. With skilled manpower, seismic safety, and industrial land, Telangana is ideal to anchor India’s USD 500 billion electronics manufacturing goal by 2030,” he said.

On defence, Revanth pitched for Telangana to be officially notified as part of the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Defence Corridor.

“Although Hyderabad is the largest Make in India hub for defence and aerospace, policy support is being diverted to Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

He requested a fast-track approval mechanism for Defence JVs and offsets, which global OEMs see as crucial for investment.
