BRS MLA Harish Rao asserted on Wednesday that Telangana’s emergence as the number one state in per capita Gross State Value Added (GSVA) is a testament to the robust economic vision of the BRS government under the leadership of K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Citing the findings of the May 2025 edition of ‘State Economic Trends’ released by ICRA, Harish said the report confirms what the people of Telangana have already experienced on the ground, steady growth.
According to the report, Telangana jumped from the ninth place in 2015 to the top position in 2024 in per capita GSVA. The state’s per capita income surged from Rs 1.25 lakh to Rs 3.5 lakh, recording a compounded annual growth rate of 6.8 per cent.
Harish attributed this to large-scale irrigation projects, pro-farmer policies, and focused industrial development, all driven by what he described as “decisive governance and strategic planning.”
“This is not just economic data; it is proof of KCR’s model of governance. While other states continue to battle structural inefficiencies, Telangana has emerged as a benchmark for progress,” Harish said.
He, however, took sharp aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of trying to portray Telangana as a bankrupt state. “It is not the economy that’s bankrupt, it is Revanth Reddy’s mindset,” Harish said.
