The Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has issued a notification granting exemption from attendance for private candidates appearing for the Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations (IPASE) in May/June 2025. The exemption is applicable only to candidates from the Arts and Humanities streams who are appearing without attending college.
Candidates seeking exemption must pay a fee of Rs 500 and submit their applications online by April 28. The board clarified that this provision is not available to Science stream candidates, a policy that has been in place since September 1997.
Eligibility criteria include students with at least a one-year gap after passing SSC or its equivalent. Those with a one-year gap may appear for the first-year exams only, while students with a gap of two years or more can appear for both first and second-year exams simultaneously. Additionally, students who have failed in the second year and wish to switch from Science to Arts/Humanities, or change their group within Humanities, must also apply for exemption.
The board also allows candidates who previously passed the Intermediate course to appear for Second Language or Mathematics as additional subjects. Students from boards outside Telangana must upload scanned copies of their SSC certificates along with eligibility and migration certificates.
All candidates granted exemption must answer the Environmental Education and English Practical Examinations as per the standard syllabus. First-time candidates appearing for either first year, second year, or both must write these additional exams.
The tentative time table for the IPASE 2025 theory exams starts from May 22 and continues until May 29. Practical exams will be held from June 3 to June 6, with English Practical scheduled for June 9 (1st year) and June 10 (2nd year). The Environmental Education exam is set for June 11, followed by the Ethics and Human Values exam on June 12 for second-year students.
