Revenue, Housing, I & PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said that no double registrations would be possible after the legislative amendment and that registration can be done within 10 to 15 minutes.
The Minister said the slot booking system for registration would be introduced from April 10 and the pilot project would be implemented in 22 sub-registrar offices.
He said that complaints are being received from the public every day that their property is being double registered somewhere. So the law is going to be amended to prevent double registrations, he added.
He said that some states have already amended laws regarding double registration, and steps are being taken to amend the law in Telangana as well, adding that a new Section 22 will be introduced in the Registration Act by amending Section 22-B.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said that sub-registrar offices are being modernised to provide better services to people across the state in an efficient, easy, fast, transparent and corruption-free manner. As part of this, a slot booking system is being introduced to complete the registration process in just 10 to 15 minutes instead of waiting for hours for registering documents.
He said the slot booking system will be implemented in 22 sub-registrar offices at first, on an experimental basis from April 10. There are 144 sub-registrar offices in the state.
He said the programme is being launched at 22 places in Hyderabad. They are Azampura, Chikkadapalli, Sadashivapet in Rangareddy district, Quthbullapur, Vallabh Nagar in Medchal district, Saroor Nagar, Champapet, Shamshabad in Rangareddy district, Ramagundam in Peddapalli district, Kusumanchi in Khammam district, Khammam (R.O), Medchal (R.O), Mahbubnagar (R.O), Jagtial, Nirmal, Warangal Fort, Warangal Rural, Kothagudem, Armur, Bhuvanagiri, Choutuppal, Nagarkurnool.
He said that to avoid congestion due to the submission of multiple documents for registration at the same time in the Sub-Registrar’s office, the working hours of the Sub-Registrar’s office have been divided into 48 slots.
People can book a slot directly through the website ‘registration.telangana.gov.in’ on a date and time convenient for them and come at the specified time on that day, complete the registration and leave immediately.
For those who have not booked a slot, five walk-in registrations will be allowed every day from 5 to 6 pm in case of emergency, and those who come directly to the office will receive documents on a first-come, first-served basis.
He said that to facilitate the slot booking process in the Sub-Registrar offices where work pressure is high and in offices where more than 48 slots are required, additional Sub-Registrars will be appointed in addition to the existing Sub-Registrars. On an experimental basis, two additional Sub-Registrars and a staff member have been appointed in the Qutbullapur office in Medchal Malkajgiri district, due to which 144 slots will be available there, he said.
He said the reorganisation of sub-registrar offices is being done keeping in mind the slot booking system, as part of which steps will be taken to equalise the workload by linking the areas of high and low-rush sub-registrar offices. This system was first implemented by merging the jurisdiction of the Champapet– Saroor Nagar Sub-Registrar offices in Rangareddy district, he said.
