As TGSRTC employees get ready for a strike, the management has issued an open letter warning employees against any stir that would derail normal operations.

The TGSRTC management and the government clarified that there would be no compromise on employees’ welfare, but asserted that strong action would be taken if loyal workers are threatened during the strike.

“The TGSRTC is on the path of development only because of the employees’ efforts,” the management said. It pointed out that despite financial difficulties, the corporation provided PRC and DA, cleared Rs 280 crore for RPS–2013 bonds and has been paying salaries regularly on the first of every month for the last three and a half years.

The letter warned that a strike at this point will cause irreparable damage to the TGSRTC, which is now recovering. Referring to the 2019 strike and the COVID-19 crisis, the management said the TGSRTC’s very survival had been in question during that period and urged employees not to disrupt operations.

The management reiterated its commitment to resolve all employee problems in cooperation with the government. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar have already clarified the government’s stance.

Appealing to workers to withdraw the strike call, the management said damaging the organisation now will hurt both the company and employees.

“Strikes are prohibited under the ESMA Act and company rules,” the letter stated. If anyone threatens employees or obstructs duties in the name of the strike, legal action will be initiated,” the management warned.

Meanwhile, the RTC JAC, which called for a strike on May 7, has launched a large-scale march from the TGSRTC Kala Bhavan to Bus Bhavan. RTC JAC Chairman Venkanna said they had highlighted their issues to the government several times and issued strike notices due to unavoidable circumstances. However, as no talks were held by the management, the march is being organised, he said.
