ZEE5, one of India’s premier streaming platforms, is bringing audiences a tale steeped in mystery and history with its latest Telugu original series, Vikkatakavi: The Chronicles of Amaragiri. Marking a milestone as Telangana’s first-ever detective series, the show dives into a suspense-filled narrative that captures the cultural heartbeat of the 1970s. The trailer, unveiled by popular actor Vishwak Sen, sets the stage for a high-stakes thriller that transports viewers to a world of political intrigue, age-old secrets and the mystique of Telangana’s landscape.
Vikkatakavi, produced by Ram Talluri of SRT Entertainments, is directed by Pradeep Maddali and written by Teja Desharaj. The series stars Naresh Agastya as the determined detective Ramakrishna, alongside Megha Akash as Princess Lakshmi. This marks Agastya’s second collaboration with ZEE5 after his success in Paruvu.
Set in the soon-to-be-flooded province of Amaragiri, Vikkatakavi follows Ramakrishna as he unravels a mystery surrounding villagers who suffer from amnesia after venturing into the Nallamalla Forest at night. The eerie phenomenon is believed to be the curse of a goddess, and as Ramakrishna delves deeper, he discovers a darker truth. The narrative uncovers the tragic death of a royal heir, a deep-rooted conspiracy and a province on the verge of losing its history forever as it faces submersion beneath the Krishna River.
Agastya, who brings to life the layered character of Ramakrishna, expressed his excitement: “Ramakrishna’s journey is not only about solving a mystery but also dealing with his own past. His resilience and determination will resonate with viewers, who I hope will be captivated by the thrilling twists and profound emotional depth of his character.”
For producer Ram Talluri, Vikkatakavi is more than just a series, it’s a tribute to Telangana’s heritage. “This project is close to my heart because it beautifully merges the cultural essence of Telangana with an intriguing storyline. We’re also thrilled about our growing collaboration, with two more releases, Matka and Mechanic Rocky, on the horizon. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such a dynamic platform that brings these stories to life.”
With exceptional sets, atmospheric storytelling and a suspenseful plot that keeps viewers on edge, Vikkatakavi promises to captivate audiences from its premiere on November 28 on ZEE5.
