mit Trivedi’s latest independent album, Azaad Collab, is a sonic celebration of freedom, creativity, and musical diversity. With party anthems, soulful melodies, and vibrant Punjabi rhythms, the album is a reflection of Trivedi’s fearless experimentation and collaborative spirit. Among the standout tracks is Husna Di Pariye, brought to life by the expressive voice of singer-actor Simran Choudhary.
For Simran, the opportunity to collaborate with a musical legend like Amit Trivedi wasn’t just another career milestone—it was a dream realized. “This collaboration with Amit sir was recorded back in March 2024,” she recalled. “I remember the time when I got the call—I was probably at my home in Mumbai. And I called my parents right after. I told them, ‘I’ve been called by Amit Trivedi, and I’m going there to record something.’ It has always been a dream to work with such legacy composers, so yeah, it did really make me very emotional, to say the least.”
Having long admired Trivedi’s genre-defying approach to music, Simran found the collaboration both creatively exciting and personally meaningful. “Amit sir’s music has always been very, very hatke,” she said. “He’s never followed a fixed formula or something that was working within the industry. He’s always chosen his own path—and that’s what makes him so different from the rest.”
That spirit of individuality is exactly what shines through in Husna Di Pariye. The track, according to Simran, carries a youthful energy that’s infectious. “It’s a very vibrant track,” she explained. “There’s more life, there’s that whole young feeling when you listen to it. It’s relevant to the age group that I am in. There’s a lot of fun banter—you feel like grooving to it, you feel like dancing to it. There’s a large scape of mood that one can experience on it. Personally, this definitely stands out as one of my favourite songs that I’ve done so far in my career.”
One of the most liberating aspects of working on an independent album like Azaad Collab was the sense of creative ownership. Despite the song being composed by Amit Trivedi and written by Shellee, Simran was encouraged to make it her own. “When I went to his studio, he was like, ‘Simran, the way you like it, the way you understand it, you sing it your way. Think of it as your own song,’” she recalled. “That is the whole beauty that comes when you do independent music. There’s no pressure of fitting it into a certain movie scene or onto a certain face. I think it also depends on who you’re working with—and Amit sir, for that matter, has been very liberating that way.” The collaboration was more than just a recording session—it was a joyful and creatively fulfilling experience from start to finish. “The whole project was so much fun, be it recording or the release,” she shared. “I was also calling him to tell him, ‘Let’s do this and let’s do that,’ and he was always down for it. I remember for the date announcement, I made this funny video with Uno cards that the fans really enjoyed—we even ended up playing Uno then. So yeah, it’s just been a very light and very easy environment.”
When asked to describe the genre of Husna Di Pariye, Simran emphasized its crossover appeal. “The song gives you that Punjabi feel, and yet it’s very relatable. It’s very easily understandable,” she said. “So I won’t really restrict it to Punjabi just because of the language. The vibe gives you all the feels—all the Bollywood feels—and that beautiful ‘Amit Trivedi vibe.’ I think the genre is just pop. It’s fun and it’s pop.”
She hopes the song becomes part of people’s happiest moments. “I really hope Husna Di Pariye becomes that song that you hear when maybe you’ve not had a good day, or maybe you want to just groove or vibe or feel good while you’re driving back home. Or maybe it’s a house party and you want all of your guests to feel good about the place and dance a little. I want the song to become a part of all your happy moments.” Simran sees this collaboration as the beginning of a new chapter in her musical journey. “This AT Azaad collaboration has only been the beginning of certain things for me,” she revealed. “There are certain playbacks that I’ve done for Amit sir and for other composers such as Sachin-Jigar and Vishal Mishra. There are independent collaborations and independent releases that I’m doing. And there’s a lot of cross-culture combinations that I’m trying to explore. Even though there’s a specific language in the song, the treatment towards it is different in every song that you listen to.”
Looking ahead, Simran is eager to keep reinventing her sound. “The whole idea is to keep changing that whole palette so that nobody ever feels that Simran’s music is making you feel monotony at any point,” she concluded.
With Husna Di Pariye, Simran Choudhary brings her voice, spirit, and charm to Amit Trivedi’s vibrant world of Azaad Collab—and it’s clear that this is just the beginning of many exciting musical ventures to come.
