Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar who is also a member of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Caste Census asked people who did not give their details to the government during the Caste Census to give them to mandal-level officers.
He said that BRS leaders did not give their details to the government except MLC Kavitha. Addressing the media on Monday at the Gandhi Bhavan, Ponnam said the government completed the Caste Census like a movement and the Planning Commission gave a report on the caste census to the Cabinet Sub-Committee. The Cabinet Sub-Committee will submit it to the Cabinet and the Cabinet will take a decision on it after discussions.
“The government completed the Caste Census as the Congress had promised before elections. The people who did not give their details should submit it now to mandal-level officials. The heads of the BRS did not give their details. The party had welcomed the decision taken by the government and had also supported it. The opposition parties can also express their opinions in the Assembly. The time has come to do ‘justice’ to BCs and no one will remain silent if anyone tries to block it. It is a historical programme,” Ponnam said.

He said that some people had insulted the enumerators and government employees when they went to collect details of the people. The Minister said the government will not keep the report in the fridge. The government would also not use the report for implementing hidden agendas. If anyone has doubts about the caste census they can bring it to the attention of the government, he said.

Pointing out that except Kavitha no one gave their details in her family, Ponnam asked Kavitha to ask them why they didn’t give their details. He said the Congress is hoping for KCR’s presence during Tuesday’s special Assembly session.

“However, we will not invite him specially. The Assembly Secretary will send invitations as usual. KCR would attend the Assembly if he is sincere towards BCs,” he said.
