Another big leader from Khammam district is ready to join the Congress after former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. Senior BRS leader Thummala Nageshwara Rao is planning to join the Congress soon.
TPCC President A. Revanth Reddy, former Minister P. Sudarshan Reddy, former MP Mallu Ravi and others met Thummala Nageshwara Rao at Thummala’s residence in Hyderabad on Thursday. The Congress leaders invited Thummala Nageshwara Rao to join the Congress. It is learnt that Thummala responded positively to the invite. It may be recalled that Thummala has been staying away from the BRS after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced 115 BRS candidates and as his name did not figure in the list.
Thummala organised a huge rally of his followers in Khammam with 1,000 cars and 2,000 two-wheelers recently without using BRS flags. Thummala had said at the rally that he is going to contest elections this time for the sake of the people.
He was upset with the BRS for not allotting the Palair ticket or any other ticket to him. Thummala may contest from Palair or Khammam after joining the Congress. It is learnt that the Congress asked Thummala to contest from Khammam against BRS Minister Puvvada Ajay Kumar.
Thummala has not yet resigned from the BRS.
