Irrespective of political affiliations, the politicians of Telangana are playing a ‘double game’ with their own party and with other political parties. The reason for this ‘double game’ is party ‘tickets’ to contest the coming Assembly elections. The situation now is ‘tickets first, ideals last.’

Staying in their current parties, politicians are carrying on negotiations secretly with other political parties for ‘tickets.’ The leaders are trying to reserve ‘tickets’ in their own parties or if that is not possible in other political parties.

Ruling party MLAs who fear that they may not get a ticket in the next elections are first in playing the double game with their own party and with other parties. They may change their loyalties in case they fail to get a BRS ticket.

Keeping this in mind, the BRS boss (KCR) is going to announce tickets only in those constituencies where there are no disputes, it is learnt.

Meanwhile, ticket hopefuls, who are not currently MLAs, are also playing double games for the sake of ‘tickets.’ They are in touch with more than two political parties at a time regarding this. They say that they will join any party that offers them tickets. Some politicians are planning to come back to their original party after winning on another party’s ticket. One political analyst said that the politics of idealism is dead and today politicians do not hesitate to shift loyalties at any moment. “Some BJP leaders too are moving along the same lines,” he said and added that people are well aware of this kind of politics but they have no other alternative.

“So people are accepting money, liquor or whatever politicians are offering them during elections. Most people are now following the footsteps of their leaders,” he said.
