Tirumala gears up for twin ‘Brahmotsavams’

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer A V Dharma Reddy has announced that the ‘Salakatla Brahmotsavams’ are scheduled to be held between September 18 and 26, followed by the ‘Navaratri Brahmotsavams’ from October 15 to 23 this year.

Addressing a press conference after holding the first review meeting on the twin Brahmotsavams at Annamaiah Bhavan in Tirumala on Monday, the TTD EO emphasised that the TTD started its preparations one and a half months in advance, and after two weeks, another review meeting will be conducted with the district administration.

During the meeting, the EO highlighted the significant days of the annual ‘Brahmotsavams’, which include ‘Dhwajarohanam’ on September 18. On the same day, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jaganmohan Reddy, will present ‘silk vastams’ to Venkateswara Swamy on behalf of the State government. Other important days during the celebrations are G’aruda Seva’ on 22, ‘Golden Chariot’ on 23, ‘Rathotsavam’ on 25, ‘Chakrasnanam’, and ‘Dhwajavarohanam’ on 26, which mark the conclusion of the annual fete.

Similarly, the ‘Navaratri Brahmotsavams’ will commence on October 15, followed by ‘Garuda Vahanam’ on 19, ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ on 20, ‘Golden Chariot’ on 22, and conclude with ‘Chakra Snanam’ on 23.

The EO stated that the review meeting covered various aspects, such as engineering works, Annaprasadam (free food offering), Darshan and Accommodation, Security arrangements of TTD Vigilance and Security wing in coordination with the Police, Kalyanakatta, Transport, HDPP, Garden, Medical, Health, Paraphernalia, and Srivari Sevaks, among others. He further mentioned that another meeting involving the district administration will be convened after 15 days. This year, due to the coinciding of the ‘Purattasi’ month with both the ‘Brahmotsavams’, heavy pilgrim rush is anticipated. The holy month begins on September 18 and concludes on October 17, with the ‘Purattasi’ Saturdays falling on September 23, 30, and October 7, 14. The officials have been directed to plan accordingly to ensure hassle-free darshan for devotees during these two Brahmotsavams and Purattasi Saturdays.

The meeting was attended by DLO Veeraraju, FACAO Balaji, CE Nageswara Rao, SE 2 Jagadeeshwar Reddy, HoDs of various departments, Additional SP Tirumala Muniramaiah, and other police personnel.

Joint Executive Officer (JEO) Sada Bhargavi and Veerabrahmam were also present.
