Chief Secretary Dr KS Jawahar Reddy reviewed the impact of cyclone Mandaus through a teleconference with the officials of the departments concerned on Saturday.The CS ordered the District Collectors of the respective districts to visit the villages on Saturday and Sunday in the cyclone-affected areas. He asked them to undertake the enumeration process to estimate the damage and directed the Collector of Tirupati to take measures to ensure that the rainwater in Tirupati town is drained swiftly.
On the occasion, CMO Special Chief Secretary Dr Poonam Malakondaiah, said that she had ordered the Collectors to take up sanitation work immediately in the areas affected by heavy rain.
Revenue Special Chief Secretary G Sai Prasad, said that they are constantly monitoring the situation of the storm with the collectors and giving appropriate orders from time to time.
Director of State Disaster Management Agency Dr BR Ambedkar said that the rainfall from Friday night to 8.30 am on Saturday was 23.3 mm in Annamayya district, 30.5 mm in Chittoor district, 14.1 mm in Prakasam district, 57.6 mm in Nellore district, 75.7 mm in Tirupati district and 14.5 mm in YSR Kadapa district. Dr Ambedkar said that in the last 24 hours 109 areas in these six districts was more than 64.5 mm.
Tirupati District Collector said that according to the information received so far, two buffaloes and two sheep died in the district and two huts were damaged. Annamaiya District Collector said that one house was damaged in the district.All district collectors and other officials participated in the teleconference.
