Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh Inaugurates ‘Mini-Gokulam’ in EG

Minister for Tourism and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh inaugurated a Mini-Gokulam at Vijjeswaram village in Nidadavole mandal on Saturday. Constructed for Rs 1.8 lakh, the ‘Mini-Gokulam’ is part of a larger initiative to develop livestock infrastructure in East Godavari district.
Speaking at a public meeting near the Kanakadurga temple in Nidadavole, the Minister announced that 304 sheds for Mini-Gokulams, costing Rs 6.18 crore, have been completed in the district. A total of 680 Mini-Gokulams are being constructed in East Godavari at an overall expenditure of Rs 15.59 crore. The Minister highlighted that the Nidadavole constituency was sanctioned 128 Mini-Gokulams at a cost of ?1.13 crore, with 54 already completed. Across the state, 12,500 Mini-Gokulams are being built as part of the government’s efforts to enhance livestock resources.
“The Coalition Government is committed to strengthening the dairy sector. In contrast, during the YSRCP regime, only 268 Gokulams were constructed over five years. Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan inaugurated a Gokulam in the Pithapuram constituency on Friday,” Kandula Durgesh stated.
The Minister emphasized that the construction of Gokulams would significantly boost dairy production across Andhra Pradesh. He also highlighted the government’s efforts to support farmers, including the disbursal of Rs 1,600 crore in arrears for paddy procurement.
Addressing other developmental initiatives, the Minister stated that Rs 65.62 crore has been allocated for the construction and repair of 134 km of roads in the district, with 75 km completed for Rs 43.68 crore. Additionally, the social security pension has been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000, and sufficient stocks of fertilisers have been made available in Nidadavole.
District Collector P Prasha nthi extended Sankranti greetings to the people and participated in various activities alongside the Minister, including performing a pooja for a cow, planting saplings, and lighting a sacred bonfire. RDO Rani Sushmita and DWMA PD A Nageswara Rao were also present at the event.
