Nizamabad BJP MP Dharmapuri Arvind said Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to sell paddy to raise election funds. He said that KCR has decided to deceive custom rice millers by selling paddy to big private companies at around Rs 5 or Rs 6 per kg.

He said that KCR is planning to raise Rs 4,000 crore as commissions by selling paddy.

Addressing the media at the State BJP office here on Monday, he said that KCR had sent a letter to the Centre stating that it will sell the rice it has.

He said the government had placed conditions for the auction of the paddy collected for Custom Milling Rice (CMR). The first condition is that the company that wants to purchase paddy must have a turnover of Rs 1,000 crore and a profit of Rs 100 crore.

The government has decided to sell 25 lakh tonnes of paddy through auction.

However, the government is doing injustice to rice millers due to the conditions the Civil Supplies Department has set to take part in the tender.

Arvind said that state millers are ready to purchase paddy at MSP. However, middle-class millers have no chance to participate in the tender process as conditions will not allow them to do so.

About 2,500 rice millers cannot participate in the tender process due to the new conditions set by the government, Arvind said. Farmers will come on to the roads if rice millers’ business gets affected. He said the Centre has already asked rice millers to upgrade their mills.

He said the BRS government is going to engage in corruption involving Rs 4,000 crore through the auction for selling paddy. KCR is conspiring to win elections by spending Rs 40 crore each in the 119 Assembly constituencies with the Rs 4000 crore he is going to collect through paddy auction, Arvind said.

He said the government has been conspiring to increase the black market business as per the direction of IT Minister KT Rama Rao.

He said the Centre has been providing funds to the State for purchasing gunny bags to market paddy and that farmers are suffering severe losses due to the inefficient BRS government.
