Telangana government filed a petition seeking review of the verdict in former Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar’s cadre allocation case. On Monday, a batch of pleas were heard in the High Court. The Central government wanted to know why Telagana government filed a review petition when it contended before the CAT that it had no role to play in the matter.
The court was hearing petitions on CAT allocating 13 IAS and IPS officers to Telangana, including Telangana DGP Anjani Kumar, who were originally assigned to AP.
The Central government filed writ petitions in Telangana HC seeking to set aside allocation of these officers to Telangana. The Centre wants the HC’s verdict in Somesh Kumar’s case be applied to all the other officers. The Centre’s side said the Somesh Kumar verdict can be squarely applied to pleas pertaining to officers Anjani Kumar, Ronald Rose, J Anantha Ramu, SS Rawat, Amrapali Kata and Abhilasha Bisht, while the cases of others can be heard separately.
Counsels for officers said their cases were different from that of Somesh Kumar and cannot be equated with Somesh case. The Bench posted the matter for August 7.
