TSIC conducts ‘Hour for Innovation’ across the state

In an initiative to take innovation to the grassroots across the state, The Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC) hosted T-Innovation Mahotsavam to celebrate the World Creativity and Innovation Day with the theme to innovate across the 33 districts of Telangana on Friday.

As part of this, it has conducted an ‘Hour for Innovation’ across various Gram Panchayats with support from Panchayat Raj department. In colleges, a webinar and an Hour for Innovation to introduce students to design thinking was conducted.

Dr Shanta Thoutam, Chief Innovation Officer of Telangana, said, “People at the grassroots should be educated about the progressive innovation ecosystem of the state. Many innovators have been scouted from the grassroots through our flagship programmes and they have come up with frugal solutions addressing the grassroot challenges.”

Jayesh Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Ministry of ITE&C, Government of Telangana, said. “The state of Telangana has achieved many milestones regarding innovation in the initial years of formation and is now focusing on encouraging problem-solvers and innovators across the 33 districts.”

TSIC, in association with Y-Hub and Inqui-lab foundation, also conducted a webinar an ‘Hour for Innovation’ across the government degree, polytechnic, social and tribal welfare colleges in Telangana with the aim to create awareness among the college students about the importance of creativity and innovation in everyday life and to encourage them to pursue innovative ideas.

Through the webinar, renowned innovators and entrepreneurs were brought together for a series of talks on ‘How students can develop an innovative mindset’.

Students posed questions and got to know about the process of their innovation. A session on design thinking was conducted for the students with a few activities which demonstrated the skill and mindsets of innovation and creativity. Close to 3,000 students across the state took part in the event.

The main aim of the programme was to bring out creativity in the people and channelise it towards innovation, which will solve their problems. TSIC visited villages in the state and conducted innovation programmes. The programme was executed at the panchayat level by Sarpanch and Panchayat Secretary successfully.
