Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has increased the accidental insurance of employees from Rs 40 lakh to Rs 1.12 crore.
TSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar and Union Bank of India (UBI) Zonal Head Bhaskar Rao signed an agreement on Saturday at Bus Bhavan in Hyderabad. The accident insurance will be applicable to road accident victims who died or become permanently disabled.
Under the UBI Super Salary Saving Account (USSA) accident insurance of Rs 1 crore and Rupay card is adding Rs 12 lakh to it, totalling 1.12 crore will be credited to victim families or victims. The corporation will provide the insurance without paying any premium and it will come into effect from 1 February.
Sajjanar said, “This insurance amount will be very helpful for the families of employees who died or permanently disabled.
Transport Minister Shri Ponnam Prabhakar has welcomed the increase in accident insurance. This free accident insurance is very helpful to the affected family, those who died in road accidents”.
“TSRTC has given Rs 40 lakh each to the families of 12 personnel who died in road accidents. Before this, accident insurance was given with salary slabs, but now accident insurance of Rs.1 crore is applicable for every employee irrespective of slabs. If employees have a Rupay card they will get another Rs. 12 lakh insurance”.
He suggested that the staff should check that their bank is in the USSA account. Everyone should take a RuPay Select card, only then they will be able to get an accident insurance of Rs.12 lakhs.
