In a bid to uphold the sanctity and intellectual property of the famed Tirupati Laddu, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has initiated legal proceedings against several unauthorised entities for misusing the “Tirupati Laddu” name in violation of its registered Geographical Indication (GI). Acting through Sahadeva Law Chambers, TTD served legal notices to multiple online vendors and platforms, including PushMyCart (Mahita LLC) and Transact Foods Limited, for the unauthorised sale and promotion of products falsely linked to the temple. The notices emphasised that the Tirupati Laddu, a sacred prasadam, is produced exclusively within the Tirumala temple under TTD’s supervision, adhering to a time-honoured and sanctified process.

TTD asserted that the unauthorised commercial use of the Tirupati Laddu name not only infringes legal rights under the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, but also undermines its spiritual significance.

Following the legal notice, PushMyCart acknowledged the communication and, in a gesture of goodwill, suspended the infringing product listings pending legal review. Several other vendors have also removed their listings in response to TTD’s proactive enforcement efforts.
