Tummala alerts agriculture officials about pest threat

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has alerted officials about the increasing threat from pests to crops across the state due to the heavy rains in August and the first week of September.
The Minister asked the Gopi Director of Agriculture, and the Raghuram Reddy Director of Research, to undertake field tours with scientists across the state and to advise farmers regarding the steps to be taken to counter pests. The Agriculture Department and university staff will set up joint teams for field visits in the next three to four days and give appropriate advice and instructions to farmers on ways to counter pests.
