Tummala orders purchase of 25,000 more tonnes of soybeans

The TG Government has issued orders allowing additional purchases of soybeans. Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao issued orders to procure 25,000 more tonnes of soybeans over the quantity announced earlier.
As per a statement issued on Tuesday, the government has already procured 59,000 tonnes of soybeans from farmers through the nodal agency Mark Fed during the monsoon 2024 crop season at the support price of Rs 4,892 announced by the Centre.
Keeping the interests of farmers in mind and as per the request of public representatives and Collectors, the Agriculture Minister gave orders to procure 25,000 more tonnes in addition to the 59,508 tonnes specified by the Centre.
The procurement of soybeans through Mark Fed 49 centres went smoothly on Tuesday without causing any inconvenience to farmers.
Meanwhile, Tummala said the Centre has been asked to give permission for the procurement of another 25,000 tonnes so that the state’s
soybean farmers can get support price. However, the Minister said the state government immediately granted permission keeping in mind the interests of farmers.
He said that 27,811 tonnes of soybeans were procured in Adilabad, 14,476 tonness in Nirmal, 7,867.75 tonnes in Kamareddy, 5,413.85 tonnes in Nizamabad and 3,339 tonnes in Sangareddy.
