In India there are two most popular abdominal contouring procedures – tummy tuck and liposuction. However, the question on everyone’s mind is – which one is right for me? So here we bring to answer this question for you.
Aren’t those same?
Both tummy tuck and liposuction are excellent procedures designed to address different concerns. Tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, is ideal for individuals who struggle with excess skin and loose muscles in the abdominal area, usually due to pregnancy or significant weight loss. On the other hand, liposuction is perfect for removing stubborn pockets of fat that resist all efforts of diet and exercise.
Neither of these procedures is a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. However, they can help you achieve a toned and contoured abdomen if performed by a skilled and experienced surgeon.
What is done in these body contouring surgeries?
A tummy tuck involves removing excess skin, tightening abdominal muscles, and repositioning the belly button for a flatter and smoother appearance. It can also eliminate stretch marks below the belly button. On the other hand, liposuction removes localized fat deposits through small incisions and specialised tools. It can be performed on multiple areas of the body, including the abdomen.
So which one is right for you?
The answer lies in your individual goals and concerns. If you have excess skin and stretched abdominal muscles, a tummy tuck can provide dramatic and long-lasting results. However, if you are close to your ideal weight and want to get rid of stubborn fat pockets, liposuction may be a better option.
In my practice, it’s always advisable to combine tummy tuck with liposuction, also known as Lipoabdominoplasty.
It has advantages of both procedures and gives a contoured body especially in males or females suffering from belly fat along with saggy skin post weight loss, aging, genetic or post pregnancy.
Each individual is unique, and so are their concerns and goals.
It is essential to understand that both tummy tuck and liposuction are surgical procedures that carry certain risks and require a recovery period. It is crucial to have realistic expectations and follow the post-operative instructions provided by your plastic surgeon for optimal results.
