Turmeric prices likely to go up to Rs 20,000 a quintal in future: MP

BJP Lok Sabha member Dharmapuri Arvind on Wednesday visited the market yard here and predicted that a quintal of turmeric would fetch at least Rs 20,000 in future.
He interacted with the farmers there and said that they were jubilant as the small lot of turmeric fetched a record price of Rs 17,011. The turmeric prices have been setting new records in Nizamabad.
At the request of the farmers, Prime Minister Narendra Modi constituted turmeric board. The turmeric exports are going to increase in the days to come. The PM set new target to the turmeric board on export of turmeric. The PM insisted that the turmeric exports should increase by at least 400 per cent.
Modi asked the turmeric board to increase the exports to Rs 6400 crore from the existing Rs 1600 crore, registering the four-fold increase in prices. Accordingly, the turmeric board will function,
He appealed to the state government to cooperate with the Centre in establishing turmeric based industries in Telangana. The state government should encourage the new industries, he felt.
There was nothing wrong in CM A Revanth Reddy seeking to develop Telangana on the lines of Gujarat, but he should provide infrastructural amenities to achieve the feat, he said.
He asked the state government to hand over 42 acres of land in Velpur to Tobacco Board.
