Chairperson of the Telangana Women’s Commission (TWC) Nerella Sharada visited the Chanchalguda Women’s Prison along with other commission members.
During the visit, the Chairperson enquired about the facilities provided to the inmates, including food arrangements and basic amenities.
She questioned Superintendent Venkata Lakshmi regarding important aspects such as Mulaqat (visitor interactions), legal aid and other support services provided to the inmates.
Sharada also interacted directly with the inmates, asking them about their individual case details. Furthermore, she enquired about self-employment programmes and medical facilities available to the prisoners. She points out that there is need for proper rehabilitation and welfare measures inside the prison.
