Two persons who were sent to Dubai under the false promise of lucrative employment have returned to their native villages, thanks to Swatantra TV, which brought their plight to light.
A few days ago, Swatantra TV aired the ordeal of ten individuals stranded in Gulf countries. These individuals were sent by an agent, Jhansi, from West Godavari and East Godavari districts, with the promise of lucrative jobs on tourist visas. Upon arriving in Dubai and other locations, they found no suitable jobs and endured severe hardships, including starvation for 60 days. The agent who sent them did not respond to their pleas for help.
The stranded individuals sent video messages to their relatives and friends detailing their dire situation. Swatantra Telugu News Channel broadcasted a series of stories on their ordeal, including these video messages. This prompted the relevant authorities to take necessary steps to bring the stranded individuals back to Andhra Pradesh. Indian Embassy officials in Dubai responded and made arrangements for their return to India. So far, eight victims from WG and EG districts have reached their homes.
Among the returnees, Gantasala Venkata Raju and Jayaramu from Tokalapalli village in Nidamarru mandal expressed their gratitude to Swatantra News Channel. Speaking to the channel, Venkata Raju shared how the telecast of their plight gave them hope and confidence to return to India. He mentioned that his parents sold his bike to send money for his return from Dubai.
“After 48 days, the house owner in Dubai forced us to vacate as we couldn’t pay the rent. We slept on the terrace of a food factory. The management confined six of us in a room, but the agent did not help us,” he recalled.
Venkata Raju thanked Swatantra TV for highlighting their ordeals in the Gulf. He advised all youths to thoroughly verify the guarantee of employment and salary and to use authorized agents before seeking jobs in the Gulf. He also demanded that the government take action against Jhansi for deceiving them with false promises of lucrative employment.
