The Task Force team of Telangana’s Commissioner of Food Safety inspected food courts in Secunderabad and found unhygienic conditions with rats and cockroaches along with multiple violations.
The Task Force team inspected Blue Sea Tea & Snacks in Regimental Bazar, Secunderabad, and found rats and cockroaches roaming in the kitchen. The FSSAI licence was not displayed, and the kitchen lacked space, making cleaning difficult. The walls were dirty with spillage and there was no proper ventilation or lighting. Dustbins were inadequate and no medical fitness or FOSTAC training certificates were available.
Later on, the State-level Task Force team also inspected Sree Sai Balaji Foods on SD Road and found the kitchen floor was littered with food waste and both veg and non-veg items were stored together. Rotten lemons were found and some refrigerators were dirty. Food articles were improperly labelled and stagnant water was observed in a clogged wash basin.
Meanwhile, the Task Force team also conducted inspections at Mithaiwala Sweet House in Karimnagar and found the FSSAI licence was not prominently displayed along with expired yellow sugar paste in pastries. Excess food colouring was used and label defects were seen. Medical fitness certificates, pest control records and water analysis reports were missing.
Finally, the State-level Task Force team inspected Maitri Hotel in Karimnagar and found open dustbins were too close to the cooking area. The roof had spider webs and oil buildup, and food was exposed to flies. Synthetic food colours were used and hygiene was not maintained in the kitchen.
The Task Force team stated that a notice will be issued and further action will be taken accordingly.
