Union Tourism Minister Telangana BJP President G. Kishan Reddy said that the State government should help flood victims using the Rs 900 crore State Disaster Response Funds (SDRF). He said the government can give Rs 4 lakh each to the kin of those who died in the floods using SDRF funds.

Addressing the media after visiting the flood-hit areas in Warangal district on Sunday, Kishan said the Centre will help farmers who were affected by the floods.

He said that the state government is not implementing the Centre’s Fasal Bima Scheme and that farmers are not receiving Fasal Bima funds since 2020. “The State government will not help farmers and will not allow the Centre to help,” he said.He said the State government is not helping farmers even after High Court orders. He asked the government to implement the Fasal Bima Scheme at least now and demanded that the state government should help flood-affected people as the BRS government had failed to give Rs 10,000 per acre to farmers during the Rabi season.

He said that he had spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah immediately after coming to know about the flood. Amit responded immediately and sent two army helicopters and 10 NDRF teams to the flood-affected areas. The Un

ion Minister said that the floods were due to encroachments of canals and not clearing them in time. He demanded that the state government should find a permanent solution to floods as Warangal City has been facing floods every year.

Kishan said that Central teams will visit flood-affected areas from July 31 to assess losses.
