Uttam, Komatireddy release NS water into left canal

Minister for Irrigation N Uttam Kumar Reddy has said that the State Government is committed to creating additional ayacut of six to six-and-half lakh acres every year.
Along with Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, he released water to the left canal of Nagarjunasagar project in Nalgonda district on Friday.
Addressing a press conference at Vijaya Vihar in Nagarjunasagar after offering prayers at the low level canal, the Minister said that the aim of the State government is to irrigate 30 to 35 lakh acres of new ayacut in the state. “We have released water to Nagarjunasagar project at such a fast pace. It ended scarcity of water for irrigation for long time in comman area spreading over four districts in the State.  He said that water was being released at full capacity and it would be used for irrigation as well as drinking water.
 He said that the Irrigation Department had been weakened during the 10 year rule of BRS government. He said all the pending projects in the combined Nalgonda district, especially SLBC, Dindi, Brahmana Vellaimula and Pillaipalli, would be completed. He said that new projects and old projects will be completed in Nalgonda, Miryalaguda and other constituencies.  He said that steps are being taken to complete SLBC and Brahmana Vellemula projects on a war- footing with utmost priority. He said that Rs 22,500 crore has been allocated for irrigation in the state budget, out of which Rs 10,828 crore has been earmarked for the works of stalled projects.
