Nalgonda Lok Sabha member N Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said that the Congress government in Karnataka has been fulfilling all the election promises. He made the statement to rebut the “misinformation” spread by vested interests that the Karnataka government failed to fulfil election promises.

Uttam Kumar Reddy was addressing a media conference at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. He said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, the fourth guarantee, wherein women who are family heads get Rs 2,000 per month. Therefore, the Congress government would be giving Rs. 24,000 per annum to a single family by spending about Rs. 22,000 crore a year.
He said every household in Karnataka was already getting free power up to 200 units. This guarantee was implemented at a cost of Rs. 7,000 crore. He said the third guarantee – the Anna Bhagya Scheme where each family gets 20 kg of rice per unit has been implemented. The Karnataka government is spending Rs 7,200 crore for the scheme. Further, he said nearly 3.05 crore women across Karnataka got free bus passes. The Congress government is spending about Rs. 2,500 to provide free bus service to nearly 30% of all passengers.
He said that the Karnataka government has already fulfilled four out of five promises that it made during the Assembly elections. The fifth guarantee, Yuva Nidhi, is scheduled to be launched in December this year. Under this scheme, graduates would get Rs 3,000 per month while the Diploma holders will get Rs 1,500 per month. He said lakhs of graduates across Karnataka would benefit from this scheme and the Congress Govt would spend Rs. 2,000 crore per for Graduates and Rs 3,600 crore for Diploma Holders.
He said that the BRS leaders were in a state of fear and frustration due to the anti-incumbency wave against their government in Telangana. He said that the Congress party would sweep the coming assembly elections and form the next government in the state.
Uttam Kumar Reddy said that, unlike other parties, the Congress party would always deliver on promises. It functions with total accountability and commitment towards the common people.
He said that the Old Pension Scheme was restored in Himachal Pradesh immediately after the Congress party came to power. He said the employees were demanding the scrapping of the Contributory Pension Scheme. Therefore, the Congress, during the Assembly elections, promised to restore OPS and did it in the first cabinet meeting. He said that the Congress party would restore the Old Pension Scheme in Telangana after winning the next Assembly elections.
