Former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, arrested for the alleged kidnap of TDP functionary M Satyavardhan, was granted bail by the Special Court for SC/ST Cases after over 90 days in judicial custody. Four co-accused were also granted bail.

This was Vamsi’s third bail plea, with the court earlier rejecting two.

However, the latest petition cited his deteriorating health, prompting the court to grant bail on humanitarian grounds.

The case arose from a complaint filed at the Patamata police station by a youth named Kiran, alleging that Vamsi orchestrated his brother Satyavardhan’s abduction and intimidation. The motive was reportedly to pressure him into withdrawing a complaint related to the 2023 attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram.

Following investigation, police named Vamsi the prime accused and arrested him in Hyderabad. The incident stirred political controversy, as Vamsi, a former TDP leader, had later joined the YSR Congress Party.
