Even though there is still a year-and-a-half before the general elections, MLA Dr Vallabhaneni Vamsi Mohan from Gannavaram, who defected to the ruling YSRCP from TDP, made a key statement on Tuesday on contesting the elections. He said that he would contest from Gannavaram Assembly constituency once again, but this time on YSRCP’s election symbol, fan.

MLA Vamsi conducted the government’s prestigious ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam’ programme at Roynagar of Gannavaram major panchayat and interacted with the people during the door-to-door campaign. He enquired about people’s problems and noted them down. He assured the people that their problems would be solved immediately.

During his visit, several people urged MLA Vamsi not to join any other political party. They were not happy with his defection from TDP to YSRCP. Vamsi responded quickly and said that he changed parties because of the people. He did not want to cause any loss to the people. “I will do justice to everyone who believes in me,” he said.

MLA Vamsi exuded confidence that he would win with a huge margin and create history in Gannavaram. He said that this time, he would be contesting on YSRCP’s election symbol fan.

He further said that with the support of the people, YSRCP would win in the next elections. About 2,000 people got house sites under the Jagananna scheme and were constructing houses. Also, people were benefiting from various welfare schemes, he said. Similarly, works on roads, drainage etc. were progressing at a brisk pace in the constituency, he said.

During the programme, several senior citizens, youth, students and others explained their problems to Vamsi. Some of them gave blessings to Vamsi that he would win in the next elections.

Gannavaram MPP Anagani Ravi, Vice MPP K Sudhir, ZPTC member A Elizbeth Rani, Cooption member Gousani, Gannavaram Sarpanch Nidamarthi Sowjanya, Government Hospital Development Committee Chairman M Sundara Rao, MPDO K Venkateswara Rao, Gannavaram Inspector Satyanarayana and others were present.
