Must read

In a surprising turn of events, YSRCP leader and Mylavaram MLA Vasantha Krishna Prasad expressed discontent with the policies of the YSRCP government and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday. He hinted at his intention to leave the party shortly. Vasantha Krishna Prasad organised the ‘Athmeeya Samavasham’ at his residence in Ithavaram, Nandigama mandal, where he discussed his plans with supporters and followers from various Mandals within the Mylavaram Constituency.
During the meeting, he outlined his future course of action, indicating his decision to part ways with the party. In a subsequent media address, he clarified that he had not officially resigned yet but confirmed his imminent departure. While acknowledging invitations from TDP, Congress, BJP, and Jana Sena, he refrained from disclosing which political party he might join, leaving the announcement for a later date.
Vasantha Krishna Prasad criticized the YSRCP government’s sand and liquor policies, emphasizing the negative impact on construction workers due to the flawed sand policy. He also questioned the appropriateness of the liquor policy. Mentioning his communication with CM Jagan about issues in the Mylavaram constituency, he expressed disappointment at the lack of response from the Chief Minister.
Furthermore, he accused the YSRCP leadership of sidelining senior party members in the allocation of cabinet portfolios, citing the example of Kolusu Parthasarathy being denied a cabinet berth. Disapproving CM Jagan’s ‘Why Not 175’ concept, he argued against the idea of a one-party rule in the state and suggested the possibility of the TDP winning elections.
Vasantha Krishna Prasad voiced his opposition to the government’s three capital decisions and highlighted the challenges faced by MLAs under the ‘Gadapa Gadapaku Mana Prabhutvam’ scheme. He criticized the non-payment of bills for house sites’ levelling works and the unfulfilled promises made by the government.
Drawing comparisons between the administrations of Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, he pointed out the stark difference in their approach towards development works. While Y S Rajasekhar Reddy sanctioned Rs. 100 crore for development, he lamented the inability to secure even Rs. 1 crore from CM Jagan for the same purpose in his constituency.
