Villagers carry patient in makeshift stretcher

Must read

Korra Sunitha, a resident of Chindugulapadu village in Pinakota Panchayat, Anantagiri mandal, had to be carried in a makeshift stretcher (doli) for 3 km on Monday due to the absence of proper road connectivity. Sunitha, suffering from severe leg and hand pain, heartburn, breathing difficulty, and anaemia, had to be transported to Ballipuram in Chintalapudi Panchayat of Devarapalli mandal.
A local villager expressed concern, stating, “This is not the first time we had to use a doll for emergencies. The lack of proper roads makes even basic medical care a life-threatening challenge.”
The region’s infrastructure deficiencies remain unresolved despite the foundation stone for a Rs 16 crore BT road project being laid last month by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan. The road was meant to connect Samida village in Devarapalli mandal with Chintalapudi, Thathapudi, and Pedda Buraga Chintapandu villages. However, work has not commenced as the mandatory forest joint inspection is still pending.
CPM district executive member K. Govinda Rao criticised the delay, saying, “The delay in road construction is unacceptable. We demand immediate forest clearance permits and commencement of roadwork to prevent further hardships and risks to lives.”
Sunitha’s ordeal has highlighted the pressing need for infrastructure development in remote areas. Villagers stressed that the lack of proper roads not only hinders medical access but also disrupts education and livelihoods. They urged authorities to expedite pending projects to prevent further hardships.
