A city-based law student, Satyala Anjana Priya, has filed a complaint against YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and former minister Kodali Nani, prompting the Visakhapatnam police to register a case. The complaint was submitted to the 3rd Town Police Station in Visakhapatnam on Saturday night.
In her statement, Anjana Priya accused Kodali Nani of using abusive language and making personal insults during press conferences and assembly sessions throughout the five-year rule of the YSRCP. She specifically alleged that his comments targeted and defamed Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National President and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, as well as TDP National General Secretary Nara Lokesh. She also mentioned instances of body-shaming during official events. Anjana Priya claimed that these comments harmed her dignity and damaged her family’s reputation, especially after being shared widely on social media.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Anjana Priya said, “As a responsible woman and law student, I am deeply hurt by such vulgar and offensive language being used on public platforms.
These remarks not only insult individuals but also harm democratic values and set a bad example for society.”
She also expressed concern over the wider societal impact of such unchecked abusive behaviour. “These toxic comments encourage a culture of online abuse, especially among the youth,” she said. “If this continues, young people may start copying this behaviour, which could lead to serious consequences like mental health problems and even suicides, particularly among women.”
Anjana Priya also criticized the role of media platforms in spreading such comments. “Kodali Nani has often used platforms like Sakshi News Channel to make baseless accusations and engage in body-shaming. This kind of language not only ruins reputations but also threatens the moral fabric of our society,” she added.
She called for immediate action, urging authorities to set a strong example. “The police must take strict action to show that this behaviour will not be tolerated. It is important to protect the dignity of individuals and uphold the values of democracy,” she stated.
Visakhapatnam Police Commissioner Dr Shanka Brata Bagchi assured that the matter is being treated with priority, and appropriate legal action will be taken against Kodali Nani.
