Ahead of Sankranti, there is a spike in flight bookings in January 2023 to Visakhapatnam, compared to other cities in South India. The hike in bookings from Bengaluru to Visakhapatnam is at 130 per cent when compared to November 2022 which is off-season.
Similarly, traffic from New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai, to Visakhapatnam has also registered 87, 48 and 33 per cent spike respectively.
Prahlad Krishnamurti, Chief Business Officer, Cleartrip, stated, “Home to pristine beaches and unique attractions like the Borra caves and the Submarine Museum, this port city is a popular destination for travellers all year round. However, during Sankranti, Vizag transforms into a centre of traditional festivities, delectable delicacies, and infectious energy.”
