VMC all set for Dasara festivities Commissioner says drinking water, temporary toilets and cloakrooms will be arranged

Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner Dhyanachandra has announced  that arrangements are in the final phase for the Dasara Sarannavaratri festivities, scheduled to take place from October 3 to 12, at the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri.
On Thursday, Dhyanachandra held a meeting with officials from various departments to discuss preparations for the Dasara festival. He instructed all heads of the departments to take an active part in the festivities.
He told the meeting that the VMC is taking all possible measures to ensure that the public faces no inconveniences during the festival. The arrangements include setting up adequate drinking water facilities, temporary toilets, cloakrooms, sanitation management, and patchwork on roads leading to the temple, he said.
For the convenience of the devotees attending the Dasara festival, 35 lakhs of drinking water bottles and packets, 150 temporary toilets, six cloakrooms, and a three-shift sanitation management team with 1,400 sanitation workers in 27 areas will be arranged. Additionally, he said a 24×7 control room will be set up, and patchwork will be done on the path for circumambulation (Giri Pradakshina). As in previous years, conveyor belts for Bhavani devotees’ red cloth and 18 tractors will also be arranged, he added.
