In a concerted effort to foster cleaner and greener urban development, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra has intensified initiatives focused on pollution control and the beautification of key city junctions.
On Monday morning, the Commissioner undertook a thorough inspection of several important locations, including Ramavarappadu Ring, Tikkle Road, Mother Teresa Junction, the Autonagar Garbage Transfer Station, the Sewage Treatment Plant, and HT Line Road.
At Ramavarappadu Ring, he reviewed the ongoing beautification works, paying special attention to the newly installed unicorn statue, which has quickly become a notable landmark. Surrounded by well-maintained greenery and pollution-control features, the statue reflects the city’s commitment to sustainable and artistic urban design.
During his visit to Mother Teresa Junction, Dhyanachandra stressed the need to complete enhancement works at all major junctions without delay, to facilitate smoother traffic flow, improve environmental sustainability, and boost visual appeal.
While inspecting HT Line Road, the Commissioner urged officials to expedite road construction while minimising inconvenience to the public. At the Autonagar Garbage Transfer Station, he called for swift completion of ongoing operations, highlighting the importance of cleanliness and efficient waste management.
At the under-construction Sewage Treatment Plant, Dhyanachandra directed officials to accelerate the remaining works to ensure early commissioning of the facility, thereby improving sanitation and environmental health.
The inspection was carried out in the presence of several senior officials, including Chief Engineer R Srinath Reddy, Chief City Planner Sanjay Ratnakumar, In-charge Chief Medical Health Officer Dr Gopalakrishna Nayak, Superintending Engineers P Satyanarayana and P Satyakumari, Assistant City Planner Mohan Babu, and Executive Engineers Venkateswara Reddy and Samrajyam, among others.
