State Planning Board Vice-Chairman and Central MLA Malladi Vishnu has said that volunteers are the driving force of the Jagananna Welfare Calendar implemented by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government. The MLA said that the volunteer system was a role model for the country.
He attended the presentation of service awards to the volunteers of divisions 1, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27 at the IV Palace in the Governorpeta at Vijayawada on Wednesday, along with Deputy Mayor Avuthu Shi Sailaja Reddy and YSRC corporators. On the occasion, Seva Mitra, Seva Ratna and Seva Vajra awards were awarded to 285 volunteers for their outstanding service.
The MLA said on the occasion that the awards given by the State government were not just for individuals, but for the whole system of volunteers. He described the volunteers as the bridge that brings welfare programmes at people’s doorsteps. He said that the manner in which the volunteers were explaining comprehensive information to every 50 houses during the division tours was gratifying. He said that he had never seen such a system of accountability to the people in the past.
Malladi Vishnu said that when the great leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy was the Chief Minister, he brought the administration to the people every three months with the Rachabanda programme and increased accountability. He claimed that after YS Jagan Mohan Reddy became the Chief Minister, local governance was initiated in the form of a secretariat system. This system has brought governance very close to the people in no time by offering more than 500 services transparently to the people through the secretariat system.
