Irrigation Minister Ambati Rambabu has said that the State government is marching ahead to root out corruption in the State. Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, the Minister said that the policies and welfare schemes implemented in Andhra Pradesh are a role model for many other states in the country.
The Minister alleged that the TDP-supported media are propagating false news against the YSRC government at the behest of Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu. He said the Village/Ward volunteer system was very supportive of the government in taking the welfare schemes to the people.
Ambati strongly objected to the propaganda by the Opposition for portraying the Village/Ward volunteers as cheats and rapists and creating a negative image in the public. He said that the people are happy with the volunteer system which Chandrababu does not like.
The Minister said that the volunteers are rendering good service to the people by handing over pension amounts to the beneficiaries on the 1st of every month. He recalled that during the TDP regime in the name of Janmabhoomi committees they robbed by fixing a price for every work, but at present, all the beneficiaries are getting their schemes through DBT. During the TDP regime, only 39 lakh beneficiaries received pensions but in the YSRC government, 63 lakh beneficiaries are enjoying the pension on the 1st of every month.
Ambati condemned Chandrababu calling CM Jagan Mohan Reddy a psycho. In fact, Naidu, his son Lokesh and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan ‘Three Psychos’. He alleged that the TDP government was the reason behind the delay in the Polavaram project works and pointed out that the diaphragm wall was constructed without completing the cofferdam and the diaphragm wall was damaged. To cover his mistake, Chandrababu is telling lies time and again.
The Minister demanded that Chandrababu Naidu answer three questions: ” Why was the Polavaram project taken up by the State when the Central government was ready to construct the project? It was announced in the Assembly that the project will be completed by 2018. But why could it not be completed? Why was the diaphragm wall constructed without completing the coffer dam?”
Chandrababu Naidu had made many promises before the 2014 elections but did not implement any of them. Farmers’ loans were not waived. Not a single word was kept. That’s why the people taught him a good lesson in the last elections in 2014, the minister said. Ambati said, “No matter how many places Chandrababu Naidu tours, no matter how many charges he makes, people will not believe him. Under the leadership of Jagan Mohan Reddy, the YSRC will win 175 out of 175 seats and Jagan Mohan Reddy will be the CM again.”
