Vijayawada MP Kesineni Chinni has announced plans to transform Vijayawada into a traffic-free city by addressing congestion through improved road infrastructure. He stated that the state government is developing a comprehensive Master Plan to ensure smooth transportation and better connectivity in the city.
On Saturday, MP Chinni, along with Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao, laid the foundation stone for the renovation of Canara Bank Road and two other roads at Mogalrajapuram near Jammi Chettu Centre, with a budget of Rs 40 lakh. Special ‘poojas’ were performed during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, MP Chinni said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had directed the preparation of a special Master Plan for Vijayawada City, focusing on the construction and widening of roads. He reaffirmed his commitment to making Vijayawada a model city in traffic management and infrastructure development.
He noted that development works in the city were progressing under CM Naidu’s leadership. Over the past six months, he has been attending several foundation stone-laying events across various divisions of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC). He also mentioned that multiple public concerns were being addressed. Recalling the TDP government’s tenure from 2014 to 2019, he stated that around 34 roads were constructed in the city during that period.
MP Chinni stressed the importance of collaboration with the NTR District Police, VMC officials, and community representatives to find effective solutions for traffic congestion. “During our visits to different city divisions, we convey the issues to officials and work towards resolving them. Our goal is to ensure smooth traffic flow without disruptions,” he said.
He also reiterated CM Naidu’s vision of making Vijayawada a traffic-free city and mentioned that the Master Plan for road development was underway as per the CM’s instructions. He assured that he would seek funds from the Union Government for the development of roads, drainage, and drinking water facilities, highlighting CM Naidu’s special interest in these issues.
Vijayawada East MLA Gadde Rama Mohana Rao pointed out that the existing flyovers in the city were built during the TDP regime and added that the government was now focusing on developing roads on the city’s outskirts, including the extension of Mahanadu Road to facilitate smoother truck movement.
The event was attended by VMC Corporators Chennupati Usha Rani, Mummaneni Prasad, Executive Engineer Samrajyam, DEE Shanta Kumari, AE Nageswara Rao, and others.
