Another female director Sri Vidya Basava is coming up with a thriller ‘Hatya’ this time. She made her debut with ‘Madha’, but she said that she didn’t enjoy the success of that film because of the pandemic. “I struggled a lot to release my first film ‘Madha’. I have shown the film to many people and requested them to release it, but when it comes to this ‘Hatya’, I didn’t ask anyone,” said director Sri Vidya.
She added that after the release of the trailer, many approached the filmmakers to release it. “It happened because of producer Prashanth,” said the director. “Though I struggled a bit to complete ‘Hatya’, I learnt from those mistakes and completed it.”
She said that she felt proud after completing the film. “I wanted to make a profitable venture of ‘Hatya’ and the film has come out very nicely. Our unit people have also seen the film and appreciated it a lot,” said Sri Vidya. Dhanya Balakrishnan and Pooja Ramachandran played important roles along with Ravi Varma in this thriller. She added that as a woman director she wanted to do more women-centric films and create more characters. “Dhanya prepared her role and then came to the sets and her performance was definitely one of the highlights. Ravi Varma’s role definitely connected to everyone,” said the director. She also mentioned Pooja Ramachandran’s performance in the film.
Dhanya Balachandran said that she wanted to do action films like Vijayashanthi and Malasri and now her wish has come true with this one. “It’s an investigative thriller and I should thank director Vidya for giving me this opportunity,” said Dhanya.
