The most wanted cybercriminal against whom 12 cases – including two in Telangana –were registered, was nabbed in Rajasthan on Saturday and brought to Warangal, the police said on Sunday.
A team of police personnel, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Kumar, investigated the case and arrested the alleged cybercriminal.
The arrested was identified as Kalu Ram (33). He hailed from Degana town in Rajasthan.
According to Vijay Kumar, Kalu Ram enticed people to invest huge money in Ponzi schemes promising high returns. He thus earned crores of rupees.
He lured a prominent doctor from Hanamkonda to invest Rs 21 lakh online and duped him. Realising that he had been duped by the fraudster, he lodged a complaint with the cyber police.
City police commissioner Amber Kishore Jha appreciated cyber crimes ACP Vijay Kumar, inspector Ravi Kumar, SIs Charan and Siva Kumar, AAO Salman Pasha, constables Kishore Kumar, Anjaneyulu and Raju for apprehending the criminal.
