Faction politics has taken over both the Congress and the BJP in Telangana. Both the BJP and the Congress have been claiming that they are the alternative to the BRS. But both of them are riddled with factions.
Political analysts say that the BRS is happy at seeing the BJP and the Congress getting riddled with faction battles and that the faction wars in the BJP and the Congress will definitely help the BRS in the next elections.
Congress leaders in TS have been saying that they are united. But the Revanth Reddy group and senior leaders in the party are at loggerheads.
One Congress leader told ‘The Pioneer’ that the party is encouraging CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka’s padayatra and that is the best example for groupism.
He told ‘The Pioneer’ that senior leaders have been attending Bhatti’s padayatra, but they did not attend Revanth Reddy’s padayatra which stopped some months ago. This proves that the Congress has two groups in Telangana.
Emulating the Congress, the Telangana BJP is also witnessing faction wars. The BJP say that it is disciplined but its Telangana unit has been facing severe faction battles.
In Telangana, the BJP has BJP state president Bandi Sanjay’s faction and BJP National Executive Committee Member Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender’s faction. There is also a group in the Telangana BJP which stays away from these two factions.
However, at present faction politics has peaked in the BJP compared to the Congress. The faction battles in the Congress have weakened somewhat after the party’s victory in Karnataka but it is still silently going on.
The fact is that both the BJP and the Congress have to realise that they have to end faction wars to take on the BRS or else their internal bickering will definitely help the BRS.
